Located in Linn County, six miles west of
Mount Vernon, off U. S. Highway 30 and Pri-
mary Highway 261. Area, 648 acres.
Great limestone cliffs, or palisades, from
30 to 75 feet in height, arise from the banks
of the Cedar River. Deep gullies slope to-
ward the river. Fringing the area are red
& cedars, American yew and ground hemlock.
A low head dam retains the water at ade-
quate level for fishing and boating, and there
are ample picnic and parking areas. Group
gatherings and evening social functions cen-
ter here.
