Located just off LA 182 in Patterson, St. Mary Parrish in Lousiana, Idlewild Plantation has a rich history dating from Civil War times. Isaac D. Seyburn, who fought as an Acting Master in the US Navy during the war, purchased the plantation in 1869/1870 where he planted and raised sugar. The plantation remained in the Seyburn family until 1977 when Dr. Walter Daniels and his wife Pam purchased it. Their work helped to get Idlewild Plantation listed on the National Register of Historic Places (Designation No. 82000459 of November 2, 1982) |
