| Pontalba Bldg., Jackson Square in the Old French Quarter. The Pontalba Buildings flank the Place d'Armes, the picturesque center of ancient New Orleans. The illustration shows one of them. They were built over a century ago by the Baroness de Pontalba. For many years they were the fashionable ancestors of the modern apartment houses.
