APACHE INDIANS
A picturesque village of Apaches in their
native Wickiups stands on the heights over-
looking Roosevelt Lake. Once the wildest and
fiercest of Indian tribesmen, the Apache rene-
gadoes, on the warpath led by Chiefs whose
very names inspired terror — Cochise and
Mangos Colorado and Geronimo, were ever
waging relentless warfare against invaders
of their mountain realm. Today about 5,000
dwell in their peaceful homes on a reserva-
tion near Globe.
