GLIMPSE OF ETHAN ALLEN TOWER-ETHAN ALLEN
PARK. Situated on a bluff, on the east side of North Avenue,
is a farm of about 300 acres, which was the home of Gen.
Ethan Allen at the time of his death. In 1902, it was
purchased by ex-Mayor Van Patten, who set apart about
twelve acres, which he offered to the Society of the Sons of
the American Revolution on the condition that a substantial
stone tower, a memorial to the hero of the "Green Mountain
Boys', be erected on the top of the rock.
