On Nov. 11, 1794, the last general council
of the United States with the Iroquois Con-
federacy was held at Canandaigua. Here
the Pickering Treaty was signed, bringing
the peace pipe to the Six Nations and the
Colonial Government. The Pickering Treaty
Monument commemorating this historical event
stands on the Court House Lawn.
