LEE MONUMENT—Splendid equestrian statue of
Gen'l Robt. E. Lee, designed by Mercier, is located
on Monument Ave. and is a magnificent tribute to
the "idol of the South." It was unveiled May 30th,
1890 by Gen'l Joseph E. Johnson, and was the occa-
sion of the greatest reunion of Confederate Vet-
erans ever held.
