Those who were timid never started and those who were weak perished on the way. Only the young and the strong found the land at the end of the rainbow - California. Unknown and unfriendly spaces, breakdown, rivers to be crossed, and lack of water for man and beast-all of there heroic experiences were in the mind of the artist when this painting was undertaken. The hardships and suffering and later the boisterous and reckless living of these brave people are the theme around which Ghost Town here on the Farm was created. |
