In 1937 the Utah Legislature accepted the gift to the state by Mrs. Jennie J. Kearns of her home, 603 East South Temple St., to be used as a residence of the Governor. Mrs. Kearns is the widow of former United States Senator Thomas Kearns, who was a successful mine operator at Park City, Utah, and elsewhere in the West. The residence, completed in 1900, has a foundation of Utah granite obtained in the mountains near Salt Lake City. The walls of the structure are of oolite, from Sanpete County, Utah Curt Teich & Co |
