Additional Details:
The Plaza "San Diego Viejo" is an historic landmark. It was established as the center of the Mexican Pueblo of San Diego which elected its first Ayuntamiento in 1834. It was taken by American forces in Nov. 1846. The Mexican Flag was cut down by Senora Maria Antonia Machadoer de Silvas and the first American Flag was raised here in 1846 under enemy fire
