ILLINOIS STATE PENITENTIARY
STATEVILLE, ILLINOIS
Located on alt. U. S. 66, five miles north
of Joliet, the Penitentiary covering 2,220 acres,
of which, 64 acres are enclosed with a 30 ft.
high concrete wall and 11/4 miles long. It is
the largest prison yard in the U. s. The
grounds are beautifully kept.
