ROCKNE MEMORIAL BUILDING
Dominating the western side of the Notre Dame
campus the Rockne Memorial stands as a tribute
to Notre Dame's immortal football coach, tragically
killed in an air crash in 1931. Built from the dona-
tions of alumni and friends of the University, the
Memorial provides complete athletic recreational
facilities for the students including a swimming
pool, handball, squash and basketball courts and
gymnastic rooms. The lobby of the Memorial con-
tains the athletic trophies and mementos accumu-
lated by Notre Dame teams under Rockne and his
successors.
