THE EAVES, the women's residence of the Mac
Dowell Colony, is one of the oldest buildings in
Peterborough, N. H. having been built during
the Revolutionary War. A feature of the house
is a huge central chimney with several ovens
and a large chamber built into it which is
believed to have served as a smoke house for
the Ferguson family, its builders and first owners.
