STADIUM
The home of the Fighting Irish seats 56,000 spec-
tators for the home contests of Notre Dame's foot-
ball teams. The concrete and brick stadium was
dedicated in 1930 with a victory by Notre Dame
over the Mustangs of S.M.U. That Notre Dame team
was the last coached by Knute Rockne before his
death in March, 1931. High atop the west side of
the Notre Dame stadium is one of the country's
finest press boxes providing facilities for 300 press,
radio and television observers.
