Here you see St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans, just before it intersects with Canal Street. Rex, mighty Mardi Gras Monarch, is seen greeting his subjects as his float makes its way through dense crowds of merry-makers. Just two blocks back, the monarch was toasted by the Mayor and given the keys to the city. Three blocks farther on he will toast his queen at the Boston Club in accordance with the age-old custom
