What is now the Town of Boone, N. C., was,
perhaps the favorite camp of the famous pio-
neer, Daniel Boone. He made his headquarters
here from 1760 to 1769 and this Town was
named in his honor. Located within the town
and upon the actual campground of Daniel
Boone is the Appalachian State Teachers
College consisting of a four million dollar
plant and a student body of more than two
thousand annually.
