Ten Sleep Inn on Atlantic-Yellowstone-Pacific Highway and US No 16 Ten Sleep Inn is located in a fertile irrigated valley at the foot of the west slope of the Big Horn Mountains, near entrance to Ten Sleep Canyon. This is one of the most beautiful and picturesque canyons in the United States. The name Ten Sleep is of Indian Origin. it was so called by the red men of early days between the Shoshones and the Crows, this place was ten sleeps from each reservation- their way of reckoning time. Ten Sleep Inn has many furnished cabins, for rent by day or by week. You will find home cooking and excellent table service there. It is located on a fine trout stream, close to many points of interest, such as Castle Gardens and the Honeycombs

My grandparents and great-grandparents build this Inn/Resort. their names were Brokaw and Elbert. My mother grew up there cleaning cabins and serving meals. All the cabins and the lodge were done by the family. They grew much of their food. There was a rock wall around the Inn and when the family left to go to Billings in about 1941, the new owners painted all the rocks in the wall a different color. Shocked my family to say the least.
