Coulee dam project on the Columbia RRM, 92 miles
west of Spokane. In the fokegroun9 4 Mason City
the contractors' camp and the world's first all-electric
city. Across the river is the town biais Government
engineers. About in the center of the picture where the
trestles extend to river's edge, the big dam will stretch
4300 feet from cliff to cliff. It will be the world's lar-
gest dam, will create a lake reaching back 150 miles to
the Canadian border, and will raise the waters of the
Columbia to reclaim 1,200,000 acres of arid lands of
the Columbia Basin.
