The first great resort hotel of Florida's East Coast
Hotel System, was started by Henry M. Flagler in 1885,
completed in 1888, costing about two and a half million.
Its Spanish Moorish buildings and magnificent grounds sur-
rounding them cover about 13 acres of reclaimed land in
the heart of the city. Royalty, Presidents, and other famous
personages have been its guests.
