Constructed in the fall of 1933 this 3/4 mile oval track is located at the north-most end of the Shenandoah Valley, 60 miles northwest of Washington, D. C., 26 miles west of Frederick, Maryland, on route #340, in the Eastern Pan-handle of West Virginia. It was operated by the Shenandoah Valley Jockey Club until the Spring Meeting of 1934 since then it has been operated by the Charles Town Jockey Club, Inc. It is built of Spanish Design and is a modern plant in every respect. Overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains, it directly faces the picturesque Harper's Ferry Gap. In close proximity to the famous Virginia thoroughbred breeding center. Two meetings are held annually in May and December of each year
