GATEWAY TO THE GRAND CANYON
Located on Highway 66 near its junction
with the Grand Canyon Highway, Williams is
a picturesque mountain town in the heart of
the greatest stand of yellow pine timber in
the Ŭ. S. Summer nights are always delight-
fully cool at this altitude of 6,780 ft. The town
derives its name from Bill Williams Mountain,
which is in turn named for a famous pioneer
of the region. Lumbering is the chief in-
dustry, several large mills being located here.
