Woodward & Lothrop, 10th, 11th, F and G Streets. A store worthy of the Nation's Capital, founded in 1880 at 705 Market Space by S.W. Woodward and A.M. Lothrop. The first store contained 1,700 square feet of floor space. Within one year the firm moved to larger quarters at 921 Pennsylvania Avenue. In 1887, a building of 30,000 square feet was acquired at 11th and F Streets. The store now occupies practically an entire lock and contains 520,300 square feet of floor space. In addition, a large modern service and warehouse building is located at 131 M Street NE containing 433,731 square feet of floor space
