Schenectady, New York

Schenectady, New York was founded in 1661 by Arendt Van Curler and was incorporated as a city in 1798. Today it is a thriving, nationally important commercial center with a population of approximately 100,000. Lo- cated in the Mohawk Valley at an elevation of 220 ft., its area is 11.34 square miles.
