Gorgas Home Located on the University of Alabama Campus

GORGAS HOME, located on the University of Ala- bama Campus, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Dr. William Crawford Gorgas, whose father occupied this home while President of the University, became world re- nowned for his work in sanitation. He assisted in con- quering yellow fever and made the Panama Canal possible. Dr. Gorgas was elected in 1950 to the Hall of Fame for Great Americans.
