It's fun to be a tourist And with the tourists stand, A happy smile upon your face, A guide-book in your hand; A yellow poppy on your breast, Orange blossoms in your hair, Ramona handy in your grip, Time-tables everywhere. It's fun to be a tourist, To climb these mountain walls, To visit countless canyons, With streams and waterfalls; To see them all, then gaily Down to the beach to trip, And in the old Pacific Take your initial dip. It's fun to be a tourist, Your first orange grove to see, To eat your first ripe olive Fresh picked from off the tree; To gaze upon the date-palms, And eucalyptus trees, And as the graceful peppers Slow swaying in the breeze. It's fun to be a tourist, As ostrich farm to view, To see the ancient missions And modern oil wells, too; To buy a bench of post cards, A thousand at the least, To send to friends of old lang syne Who are still in the East.
