World's Highest Bridge over one of the World's Most Stupendous Chasms

Back:
This steel bridge constructed in 1929 offers
new conceptions of the thrilling depths of the
Royal Gorge. It is a toll bridge for autos as
well as foot passengers and gives access to
the hitherto unapproachable south rim of the
gorge. The bridge is a quarter of a mile in
length with a span of 880 ft. between the
towers, 150 ft. in height. From its center
one may look on an unobstructed drop of
1052 feet to the bottom of the gorge.
