The fountain and surrounding garden were given to
Trinity Church and the people of Newport by Robert
Goelet in memory of his parents and wife. The spire
of the church rises in the background. Designed by
Christopher Wren, and built in 1726, this is the
most beautiful Anglican Church erected in America
during the Colonial period. Open to visitors. (No
admission charge).
