"26 BROADWAY" is the home of the Standard Oil
Company of New York, familiarly known as "Socony
The Standard Oil Company of New Jersey and a number
of other oil companies also have their main offices there.
The building occupies the site bounded by Broadway, Beaver
and New streets, and rises to a height of 507 feet above
Broadway. The finial of the tower is aluminum, the largest
casting of this sort in the world. The tower elevators are of
the full automatic push-button control type, and were the
first installation of this kind ever built. The architectural
style is a free adaptation of the Renaissance.
