Designed by August Bartholdi, the Statue of Liberty
was presented to the United States by the French in 1884.
It is located 14 miles southwest from the Battery on
Bedloe's Island and is 150 ft. high, standing upon a 155 ft.
pedestal. By night it is spectacularly illuminated by numer-
ous floodlights.
