The Pueblo Indian is a dweller in substantial
villages with houses rising from one to five stories
in height and bordering on regular streets or courts.
In character he is peaceful, industrious and conser-
vative. The occupation of the men is largely con-
fined to agriculture; the women are the house build-
ers and owners, and engage extensively in the mak-
ing of pottery, which is decorated with geometrical
and symbolical designs.
