After painting by Miss Mary Leeds Fulton
Wingate lies at an altitude of 6736 feet,
and is just west of the Continental Divide.
Near Wingate stands the curious cathedral
shaped rock which is called the Navaho
Church in recognition of its suggestive
appearance. Wingate is a point of
departure for the Pueblo of Zuni, which
lies about forty miles to the south. Fort
Wingate also lies within sight upon the
south.
