M.V. HYAK AND SEATTLE, WASHINGTON This is a view of the new 382-foot vessel which began serving Puget Sound residents in 1967. Four super-ferries are under contract at a total cost of $23 million. Each vessel will transport 2600 passengers and 160 vehicles they will reduce travel time from 65 minutes to 45 minutes on the Seattle-Bremerton run alone. On an average day, 12,000 passengers and 9,000 motorists use the services of Washington's state ferries. In the right background can be seen the World-famous Space Needle.
