PANORAMIC VIEW OF LOS ANGELES
"The City of the Angels" is surrounded by mountains on
one side and the blue Pacific Ocean on the other. Los An-
geles is one of the most exciting cities in the United States.
It ranks as the largest city in California, both in population
and area, which is 452.2 square miles. Within its horizon is
Hollywood, the movie and television capital of the world.
In 1781 Governor Felipe de Neve founded El Pueblo de
Nuestra SeƱora la Reina de Los Angeles, the Village of our
Lady the Queen of the Angels. As capital of the Mexican
Province, it was the last place to surrender to the United
States at the time of the American occupation in 1847.
