THE OLD SLATER MILL was built in Pawtucket, R.I. in 1793. It was the first factory in America to produce cotton yarn suc- cessfully with water powered machinery. Its three buildings, dam, power canal, and Riverside Park, is a Registered Nation- al Landmark. The site offers a wide range of guided tours to schools, and the public.
