Built 1729. Samuel Adams, James Otis, Joseph
Warren and other patriots addressed the citizens of
Boston from its pulpit in 1768-1770-1773. Here in
1775 was established a riding school for the British
dragoons. In 1872 to 1875 the building served as
the post office. In 1876 this historic building was
sold at auction, only to be followed by the demon-
stration of public-spirited citizens who acquired the
property under the title of the Old South Association,
and have since conducted it as an historical mon-
ument and a place for patriotic inspiration and
instruction.
