This famous mountain, 14,176 feet in height,
lies at the extreme northern end of the Sawatch
Mountains, near the head waters of Eagle River
The cross is formed by a deep vertical fissure w SEP 8
the face of the mountain, 1,500 feet in length
intersected by a transverse ledge of some 75 I-AM
feet, both retaining permanently the deep snove
with which they are filled.
