It contains 702 acres and has twenty
miles of macadam roadway. It has a
fine Zoo, Aquarium. Horticultural build-
ing and Bathing Pavilion with 1,000 pri-
vate rooms. Belle Isle was purchased by
Detroit in 1879 and the city has spent
$2,000,000 to make it an enjoyable spot
for her citizens and guests.
