Situated about 25 miles from Santa Fe, may be found, in the
upper valley of the Pecos River, some of earth's most beauti-
ful bits of scenery. Unlike any other locality, the landscapes
z here have the vagueness, the mystery of the desert, but with
w out its barreness, for the land, plentifully watered yields
wonderful crops, where it is cultivated, and where it is in a
wild state, there is a wealth of undergrowth and wild flowers.
Altho little known as yet by Easteners, "the Pecos is a
favorite summer resort of residents of the Southwestern states.
