Directly in front of Bancroft Hall at the end of Stribling
Walk is Tecumseh God of the 2.5. This aristocratic old
chief was once the figurehead of the U. S. S. Delaware, but
was given an honorable discharge to finish out his service
as guardian angel of the wooden men at the Naval Academy.
The Class of '91 came to the rescue and had a bronze
replica made. The bronze plate with the Naval Academy
seal at the foot of the figure was made from the metal that
was to have composed the torpedo tubes of the new
"Washington".
