Baltimore boy who held the bantam-
weight championship and finally lost it to
Pete Herman in a decision bout at New
Orleans in 1917. The Kid was born De-
cember 5, 1893, at Copenhagen, Denmark;
height, 5 feet 1 inch; weight, 118 pounds;
color, white. He was a hard hitting ban-
tam and beat all the stars of the game,
winning his title from Johnny Coulon by
a knockout in three rounds in 1914 at Los
