Pennsylvania lad who claimed the mid-
dleweight for a time and lost it when he
was stopped by Al McCoy of Brooklyn.
Chip was born August 25, 1888, at Scran-
ton, Pa.; height, 5 feet 8 inches; weight,
158 pounds; color, white. Chip was con-
sidered one of the hardest hitters among
the middles when he started out. He bat-
tled against the best and was always near
