When Charley Harvey, New York man-
ager, was in London last year, he saw
Billy Wells work against Johnny Basham
and immediately signed him to come to
America. Wells liked the States so well
he became a regular citizen and now wants
to box Mickey Walker for the world's
title. Wells has won all his fights in the
in the States, 15 in number. He won 33
out of 36 fights in Europe, and is consid-
ered the best contender for the title in the
welter class. He was born in London and
is 25 years of age, scaling 147 pounds.
