Faneuil Hall was a gift to the people of Boston,
Massachusetts, from Peter Faneuil, built in 1742. It
was the scene of mass meetings prior to the Revolu-
tion, and here, James Otis spoke on March 14, 1763
on the case of freedom, gaining it the title "Cradle
of Liberty."
