The town began in 1907 at Riley's Switch, a siding
on the Santa Fe, but grew rapidly after the rail-
road brought its shops from Melrose. Clovis is a
jobbing center - storage elevators and feeding
point for livestock. This view shows the Post Office
building in the downtown area.
