Bent's Old Fort

BENT'S OLD FORT LaJunta, Colorado The circular base marks one of the two towers placed at opposite corners of the Fort. Though built for defense, the 18-foot high towers, with walls over two feet thick, were used more as arsenals than as citadels. The wagonroom was the long room at the extreme right.
