THE OLD SPANISH CATHEDRAL. The Roman
Catholic Cathedral, a large Moorish edifice, begun in 1793 and
almost entirely destroyed by fire in 1887, was rebuilt and
enlarged a few years later; it now. shows the original front
wall that escaped ruin and was incorporated in the new
building, and the old chime of bells, one bearing the date of
1682, as well as a chime of new ones.
