The pioneer settler in what is now Richmond was John Nicholl, who bought 200 acres of the San Pablo Rancho in 1857 and built a house on the present location of Twenty-eighth street and Macdonald avenue. The eucalyptus trees, planted in 1868, are believed to be the largest and oldest in Contra Costa county. In 1899 this settlement began and the city was incorporated in 1905 E.C. Kropp Co |
