THE TOPEKA AVENUE BRIDGE
SPANS THE KANSAS CRIVER
at Topeka and is a conngcting link in SA
Highway No. 75. The bridge is Zof 2001-plate
steel girder type. The center spanjis
941 feet
long and is the largest span Tofbcbtinuous
plate girder that has eter been fabricated
in the United States. Fine span's make up
bridge, which is 4,440 feet, almost a pile
long, and the longest highway Bridge in
Kansas.
The four lane traffic roadway is thirty seven
feet above the high water mark and was
opened to through traffic in September 1938.
