famous limestone arch, above East Shore
Drive. The top of the arch is 154 feet above
the surface of Lake Huron; the height from the
base of buttress to the top of the rock is 50
feet. The arch was formed by action of reced-
ing waters in ancient geological times and
tells the visitor that the waters of these inland
lakes held dominion over the highest part of
this Island.
