SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 17.-(AP)-President Truman enjoyed
a breakfast confection so much today that he asked for the recipe.
He had melon, orange juice and "Pancakes Oscar.
William Wachter, maitre d'hotel of the Fairmount, said it was
the latter that intrigued the presidential taste, and he asked for
and got the details of preparation.
"Pancakes Oscar,” said Mr. Wachter consist of eight very thin
wheat cakes the size of dinner plates, with brown sugar and butter
between each. They are topped with a special marshmallow sauce,
baked brown on top and served with fresh strawberries.
